Fortis Bank succeeded to migrate most of the core banking applications developed on Oracle Forms to Microsoft .NET with the tool designed and developed by BIS and the contribution of software experts of BIS together with internal IT team of the Bank.
Fortis Group acquired Dışbank which was formerly owned by a Turkish group of companies in 2005. Fortis Bank Turkey is offering services in four strategic lines of business: corporate, commercial, retail banking and asset management. In these principal segments, Fortis Bank serves a nationwide customer portfolio through an advanced distribution network that includes 174 branches, 257 ATMs, 13 web portals and a call center.
Business Challenge
Fortis Bank was looking to revamp its IT infrastructure in order to reduce the load on the database server and migrate to n tier architecture. To support these goals, Fortis Bank decided to move core banking applications from Oracle Forms to Microsoft .NET environment.
Solution
BIS performed a pilot project to design the infrastructure of the new application platform and than started to convert the banking applications that were previously developed on Oracle Forms to Microsoft .NET platform. The preferred solution is to build on a Microsoft platform because of its ease of implementation, its reliability and scalability. It was also the lowest cost solution and had the advantage of being relatively easy to train staff. BIS is continuing to help Fortis Bank to complete the migration of high-volume transactions. BIS has implemented its’ migration tool in that project.
